A thriving High Street benefits us all.

 

The Knoll has 4,000 residents right on the doorstep of 250 local businesses, including shops, restaurants, and service providers, many of which are working hard to stay afloat in today’s economy. We believe better engagement between residents and local businesses can make a real difference for both.

 

We’re launching a WhatsApp channel where local businesses can share exclusive offers, events, and new services tailored specifically for Knoll residents.

Residents can also join in by sharing recommendations and experiences, helping to support businesses they love.

We’ll periodically share updates on Facebook and other channels, highlighting the latest offers and news from local shops, restaurants, and service providers.

This initiative was agreed in March (2025) with Steve and Diane from the Knoll Residents Association and Tyler from Orpington 1st, with Scott at The Orpington adding his backing as one of the many small business owners who see the value in stronger connections with local residents.

It will take time to build, and for it to succeed, we need both businesses and residents to get involved in a positive way—supporting local businesses, sharing recommendations, and making the most of the offers available.

Help spread the word! If you know a business owner on the High Street or are visiting one of the shops or restaurants, please let them know about this initiative and share the link. There will be marketing going out to businesses in due course, but we’d love to get some early adopters on board!

One example of how this initiative can help is by reducing reliance on food delivery apps, which take around 25% commission on every order. By connecting directly with local businesses, we can help keep that money in the community—giving residents better deals and businesses a fairer return.
